1. Place and terms
The 8th European Blitz Championship & 6th European Blitz Championship
Women will take place in March 23 – 24, 2013 in Hungary, Budapest, Hotel Benczur
(H-1068 Budapest, Benczúr utca 35)
Championship is open for non-European players who play in Intercontinental WC Qualifications.
2. General rules
There will be played two separate tournaments (for men and women). In any cases, didn’t mention in these
regulations – FMJD rules decide (Annex VI has the advantage).
Open European Blitz Championship, schedule:
• Sat, 23rd March
9:30 – checking players list
10:00 – blitz
• Sun, 24th March
….
14:00 – closing ceremony
3. System of competitions
Tournaments will be played in a Round Robin system. Barrages should not be played.
Only in case of all criteria of challengers for champion’s title will be an equal,
barrage should be played (2 games with the time control 5’ + 3” per move (Fisher
system) and if champion will not specified, then – games with time control 3’ + 2”
per move till the first winning).
4. Time control
Open European Blitz Championship will be played with the time control 5’ + 3”
per move (Fisher system).
5. The draw agreement
The 40 moves rule is not valid. The players may agree upon a draw only if the
number of men for each player is 10 or less.
6. Rights of the players
Any player wishing to call the referee for assistance has the right to stop the clocks
while his complaint is being considered (contrary to Annex III article 4.4).
Any player who wishes to claim a regulation draw (see Annex I article 6) may do
so. The referee will decide if the claim is correct and if so he will end the game.
7. Rights and duties of the referee
If the playing time is expired, the referee will end the game declaring the game lost
for the player who exceeded the allotted time.
Players must see to the playing time expiration by themselves.

9. Participation fee 40€ or 20€ (youth aged up to 19). Hungarian players are free of the registration fee.
Participation fees has to be paid before the beginning of the Championship on the account of the European
Draughts Confederation at latest March, 15.

Fees can be paid in cash before opening ceremony, but in this case the fee is higher, 50€ or 25€ (youth)
respectively.
10. Price money: 100% of inscription fees
Prices will be transferred by bank account within 3 days after the event.

12. Applications only from National Federations should be send to EDC office

13. Hospitality costs for players/accompanying persons
a) Rooms (price per room with breakfasts):
